ABOUT ME

''Good design is as little design as possible.''

-Dieter Rams

Amélie Tessier is a Montreal based designer, who graduated from École Supérieure de Mode de Montréal at UQAM University in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in fashion management and design.

Amélie started her career while in university, by joining Jupa Sports, an outerwear brand for children and teenagers, as an assistant designer. Her quest for new challenges led her to Harricana, where she learned to work with an unusual medium: recycled fur. Post-internship, she continued to work at Harricana by contract in the emerging neighbourhood of Saint-Henri, before transitioning to JACOB Boutique in 2010. There, she became an assistant designer for the JOSEF line. She is now a Design Coordinator at FIG Clothing, and has been immersed in the world of lifestyle/athletic wear for the past four years. Being in charge of product development for this respected Canadian-made brand is her biggest achievement so far.

She now divides her time between commercial pursuits and personal design projects. Her main interests and motivations are innovations in the fashion and textile industry, present and past methods of garment construction, the performance aspect of a garment and finding ways to improve the comfort of the consumer.
